This is a very simple way to buy your next hammock and ensure that you are not cheated in the process. Hammocks bring back memories of lazy days spent in coastal countries where time seems silent. This is our memory too - don't worry - we've obviously been to the same destination (and son, we can't wait to go back to Jamaica!). We will run through the three point system that we use to ensure you get the best deals you can when shopping for a new hammock. Let's start with a few places for you to check out when you shop that you might not think of carrying exotic items such as Hammocks.
1) Check the camping shop. You might not think a place like REI would have a hammock, but they did it. The good one. Many of them. I don't work for REI and I'm not related to them either. However, I shop there several times over the past 10 years. I was very impressed with the choice of camping items and their general supplies. They always have new items at reasonable prices. What I don't know is that the hammock must be a camping item that is quite popular because REI (at least the one I entered) keeps it. I think some campers should like to use it after a day of hiking. This is good for you if you only need one for your home. Look at the camping shop near you. 2) Compare prices and use Ebay. I like Ebay because there are more reasons than I can count. One of the best features of Ebay is the fact that I can easily compare the prices of hammocks (and everything from fuzzy dice used for camera phones) and then make a decision. If nothing else, use Ebay as the first stop in your research process to feel what is being sold for how much and what general price range you should look for when you finally make a purchasing decision. See their list tonight, there are people from all over the world who sell hammocks at good prices. If you are really going to buy a hammock, make sure the seller has a lot of positive feedback. This is a good insurance policy. 3) This is the most important part of the process of buying a hammock. Without knowing the quality of the hammock you are investing in, there is no way to find out if it will not last long or whether it will be comfortable. Not all hammocks are created equal to say the least. Actually, this is an understatement. The old saying "you get what you pay for" is as valid today as it was at the turn of the 20th century. To give you an idea, we recently traveled to the Caribbean. There is a $ 20 hammock available at very low prices everywhere we look. However, these rapid quality checks show that they have lower quality (and therefore will not be the most convenient thing to use in a few years after they run out). Hammocks vary in quality from extraordinary to gloomy. Ask anyone who has ever bought a substandard hammock what's the difference and you really will get earful. You have to know what to look for to get the most comfortable hammocks available at the best prices.
